Frequently asked questions.
What’s the average size of a group?
Generally we like to keep our retreats to around 10-20 people.
What is the daily itinerary?
Each retreat will have its own unique schedule. Once you have signed up for a retreat we will send out a detailed schedule of the program as we near the start of the retreat. To get a general idea of what one our retreat schedules look like, please see the sample schedules provided for each retreat.
What type of food will there be on retreat? I have a specific dietary need, will there be options?
Each retreat will offer different options depending on where it is being held. However, we will always do our best to cater to your needs regarding speciality diets or any food allergies such as gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. We ALWAYS seek organic, locally sourced produce, curated by talented chefs who are familiar with local cuisine and seasonality of the area.
Is there alcohol available on the retreats?
Generally, yes. There may be venues that do not offer alcohol, but usually the option is there if you choose. We simply ask you drink responsibly and not disturb the experience for others while you are participating in the retreat program. Please note that alcohol is not included in our prices and is an additional cost.
What yoga styles are taught on retreat?
Our yoga classes will encourage exploration in various styles. Morning classes will be open level Vinyasa to invigorate and energize the body and mind. Evening classes will be a “Yin-yasa” to restore the body and calm the nervous system.
Should I bring my own yoga mat and equipment? I’m trying to travel light…
Unless otherwise noted, you do not need to bring any yoga equipment as they will be provided by the venue.
I’ve never done yoga/meditation/ice baths before, can I still join your retreat?
Absolutely! What better place to learn something new than in a beautiful location with supportive people. No matter what class is being conducted, no previous experience is necessary. We love opening people up to new ideas and practices.
Is the ice bath safe for everyone?
Ice baths are safe for most people. However, an ice bath is contraindicated for anyone with serious cardiovascular conditions, pregnant women, and anyone with type 2 Raynaud’s disease. It is always a good idea to check with your doctor if you are unsure.
Do I have to go into the ice bath?
Absolutely not! This experience is for you and we want you to be happy and feel safe. Having said that, the ice bath is a great opportunity to test yourself and get outside your comfort zone, and it comes with so many benefits. During the retreat we seek to demystify the ice bath and get you more than prepared for the experience. We do encourage those who have no experience with cold therapy to start slowly incorporating cold showers into their daily routine a few weeks before the retreat, but this is not necessary. You can always email us with any questions that you may have.
Do I need to participate in all activities?
We have put a lot of thought and attention into the design of our program which is intended to create an invigorating and uplifting state of being. Therefore we encourage participants to fully immerse themselves into the experience by attending all classes. Additionally, we have incorporated free time in our schedule. However, if you need to miss a class, don’t stress, that’s fine.
Is there time for private excursions outside of the program?
While our retreats offer free time during the day it is generally only for a few hours so please be aware that there will not be extended amounts of time to leave the program. However, with some retreats we will have off site time to hang out at beaches, towns, etc. If you’d like to spend extended time outside of the retreat program we recommend extending your stay either before the program starts or after it ends.
Do I need to bring money for gratuities or extras?
No. We always seek to include all expenses in our price. However, if you choose to add alcohol, extra snacks, and/or spa treatments and want to give additional gratuities, then these can usually be paid by credit card.
I’m traveling alone – are solo travelers welcome to your retreats?
Generally, yes! Retreats are a great place to meet new friends. You can choose a shared room in which you will be in a double occupancy room with another solo traveller or a single occupancy room by yourself. The one exception would be our annual couple’s retreat in Costa Rica which is couples only.
Can I share a room with someone else?
Yes. If you are attending a retreat with a friend or partner, each of you will select the double occupancy option at checkout so that we know you wish to share a room. After signing up, you will then let us know who you are sharing a room with and if you would like one or two beds in the room via our questionnaire. If you are a solo traveller and wish to share a room with someone you don’t know there will be an opportunity to indicate this on our questionnaire. In such cases we will assign a roommate.
Do you provide airport transportation?
Yes! Please double-check and confirm which airport we will be providing transportation with, as their may be other airports nearby depending on where we are holding the retreat.
What should I pack?
This can depend on where we are hosting a retreat, but generally it is good to pack sunscreen, bathing suit, comfortable clothes for yoga and exercise. We will provide a specific location-based packing list in your pre-arrival email 30 days before the start of the retreat.
Do I need to bring my passport?
Yes! For any retreat being held outside of your country of residence you will need your passport.
